TYPE: Hands-On

If you have ever gone to buy a kitchen knife and have been wondering how to decide which one is the best for you, this class will take the guesswork out. We will learn about the different styles of knives, different materials, different brands, and why they matter – in addition, you will have a chance to work with some unusual speciality knives and learn several sharpening and honing techniques. As we explore the various styles of knives you will be able to try them all hands on while learning a variety of culinary knife cuts.

About Our Culinary Instructor:

Sean McGuire

Sean is a professional chef with almost a decade of experience. He developed his love of cooking as a child growing up in Korea, Italy, Germany, and the American south. After receiving his culinary degree he worked extensively in San Francisco, Napa, and Sonoma at Michelin-starred restaurants and award-winning wineries before moving to Barrington with his wife Shauna and son Hunter. Both in the kitchen and out, Sean loves how cooking can introduce a new experience, ingredient, or culture.
